I am an Artist, committed to the styles of Surrealism & Expressionism. I like to think of my work as unique and modern with a twist. The work of Max Beckmann, Yves Tanguy, James Gleeson, Albert Tucker plus many more have had a strong impact on my artistic style and visions. My artwork is about expressing ideas and feelings and to establish a connection between the painting and the viewer, through colours, shapes, light and textures etc. I believe that painting is an amazingly beautiful way to express myself, my dreams and visions for all to see. An artist can let their imagination run wild! I don't try to portray or depict reality (that's what cameras are for). I rely on lots of vibrant and flamboyant colours, shapes and figures plus contrast and texture to convey my images, and make them visible to others. So wherever you display the art, it will demand your attention. All of my images originate in small fragments within my mind that I piece together. They can be of my life and what I see around me, being people, landmarks, landscapes, feelings and most of all colour, plus what you don't see — pure imagination. I like my paintings to have soft fluidity and also solid structure. My choice of colours can depend on my mood at the time of painting, or the mood of the painting that I'm trying to get across. I love to use contrasting and bright colours. I focus carefully on colours, shapes, spaces, distances, textures, and the angle of light; and make it as free from reality and realistic views as possible. Ravell. | ||||
